baffled by level 11

I've found almost no useful hints for level 11 anywhere. I've split the image into four images, two of which are all black, the other two nearly identical to the original. I can't think of anything else to try. I can see that the image looks like two pictures merged together, but I know just enough about imaging to know that I don't know squat.

Help, please?

You might have to adjust your brightness and/or contrast in order to see the image, but they shouldn't be totally black.

I don't know how start this level, I tried to decomose the image to RGB band but it leads nowhere :(

Keep trying! Read the page title twice  As a general hint about what not to do, JPEG is a "lossy" format, so it would be odd indeed if the exact values of pixels were important in a .jpg file.

Yes,

I think I found the tips, but I have a 'python' problem.
I have selected some pixels and I want to create an image with theim but I get a image useless.
I am using the putpixel function in a loop but the image is bad :(

Any useful hint ?

Are the images meant to be clear?

Just wondering whether the images are actually meant to come out clear or not?

I love this problem (and python) - 13 lines of code does something I really didn't expect!
