Re: The final URL

footech wrote:We have processed the first and second and gotten both two pictures and a combined picture. There is no doubt about what it shows. But the final URL still escapes us.

We have tried a billion (nearly) variations over the last two days, but still no success. Is there any possibilities for yet another hint before we have to give up on the rest of the Python Challenge?

Sometimes the simple things seem to obvious, but are nevertheless the answer. Are you sure you didn't overlook anything simple and obvious?

Hint clarification needed (#9)

I need two clarifications here.

1) An early post on this topic said 'What does "harder and deeper" means? '
Are we talking about the same level? I see no "harder and deeper" here, in source, rendered page, title, or URL.

2) Another hint says "Look at the URL of Level 9 ! /pc/def/*.html "

Are we talking about the same URL? My URL for Level 9 does not have any "def" in it. Earlier levels did, but this does not.

Oh yes, we are.

Well, maybe some are, but I found that the url for me is now http://www.pythonchallenge.com/pc/return/%s.html. This made this particular challenge more challenging than it ought to have been, IMHO.

Just put the name of what you see in for %s.

Chears!!! been trying the apply the word to the old-style URL with no help.
After moving on I then checked the Wiki for their solution

Since I am using this as a form of motivation to learn python I dont know all the tricks, I ended up drawing this out using the python-LOGO like module, the thing is using that, the image is upside down

Good fun this

Nitpick.. ;)

So, for clarity, from level 9 the format is http://www.pythonchallenge.com/pc/return/%s.html; generally speaking you always alter the last segment before the extension of the URL of the current level.

I too got stuck on the meaning of "first + second".
I was trying too hard. First is sufficient.

It would seem that the turtle module, like Logo in general. has y-coordinates which increase up the screen. Fortunately, it also follows the Logo tradition of accepting negative co-ordinates.

The text "harder and deeper" appear when you make a simplistic and incorrect guess at the answer. It isn't on the challege page itself.

It seems like the format for the URL changed at some point.

HTH (Also stuck on #9)

I don't get it

Ok. I see the image, and found first and second, as well as the module I'm supposed to use.

I think I know the function that I'm supposed to use, but I have no idea how to supply the data to the function. I know the first and third parameters, but what is the second? When I use the dimensions of the data in the puzzle hint, It doesnt look like anything to me.

Please help

Got it!

I finally got it. There appears to be more formatting in the data than there actually is.
