library problem
I am stuck trying to get PIL support working for JPG on my Mac running OS X 10.3.9
Problem is getting jpeg-6b installed so that a Imaging-1.1.5 recognises the JPG support. Any help gratefully received. I am not well up on library building, etc.

I don't use a Mac myself, but the package repository at pythonmac.org may help you? You might also want to move this question to the general forum as it no longe ron the topic of hints.
I'm stuck on this one. I have converted first and second to to something meaningful. (At the risk of spoiling, I have two images.)
I try to access url:
http://www.pythonchallenge.com/pc/def/%1%2.html
where %1 and %2 are my interpretations of first and second respectively.
No joy here. I have tried numerous terms for each of the pictures.
Am I on the right track?

Still need help with lev 9
I'm probably just being dense, but I'm still stuck on level 9.
I haven't decoded the dots in good.jpg yet. One thing that puzzles me is that they're not pure greyscale (like in puzzle 7) -- the RGB values of the pixels are often off by one. Do I average?
Also, I'm confused about decoding first and second. I understand that people have been able to make them into images, but I have different line lengths for each line in each part. The minimum value of each part is 77, but that doesn't suggest anything to me in and of itself.
Help, please?!

Think more in terms of vector graphics instead of bitmap graphics. And don't forget to think about how the title of the page relates to it.

Got it. Thanks!
I just know I'm going to kick myself when I find the answer
I have first and second, but I'm too stupid to figure out first+second=?
Another bone please
Ok I hate to ask for more help after needing it on 8 which was really quite easy. But I just am not getting something. Seems like this puzzle is very subjective. All the other puzzles you know you got it before you even type in the url. Is that the case with this one as well?
Some answers that would really help me I think is.
1. Are the dots in the image actually used for information or are they nothing more than a hint of what you should be doing with the coordinates.
2. When I draw first and second is it relevant that I draw on top of the image or for that matter if I draw first and second on top of each other.
3. One of the first posts in this board mentions "Harder and Deeper". Where are they even getting that hint in the first place?
4. Any other hint that would make this more objective cause it seems like the meaning of these images is highly subjective.
Thanks

The final URL
We have processed the first and second and gotten both two pictures and a combined picture. There is no doubt about what it shows. But the final URL still escapes us.
We have tried a billion (nearly) variations over the last two days, but still no success. Is there any possibilities for yet another hint before we have to give up on the rest of the Python Challenge?
