Google for "proxy" and [spoiler]. Following the first result led me to code to make it work (although I had to tweak it a little).

I have diale dth correct number at the piccy and gotto teh PHP page.
I have the markup on screen I know I have to use the module that has the sma ename as a wind instrument but I do not know anything abt it !!!

If you need a wind instrument, you're playing the wrong tune.
There is a module in the standard lib that helps, but that's not it.

Funny how these puzzles work... I've been stuck on nearly every one so far, and this one that confounded the timbot is the only one so far which I solved quickly without needing to read hints in this forum! And no, I haven't used the relevant module before.

On balance though, I'd rather trade my puzzle-solving abilities for Tim's

The phonebook can be accessed using a specific standard for which the python library has a handy module. Next to acting as a telephone directory, this phonebook also supports a common set of methods that let you find out how to operate it; this is called introspection, something Python itself is also good at.

Yeah, I knew about the protocol, but I had totally forgotten that the introspection methods had the object. Solved.

OK, after a few months of having given up I'm going to try this level again.
After hacking around my firewall with the prev mentioned trick I'm having no luck trying to list the methods and keep getting "XML error: no element found at line 1".

I'm ready for a spoiler. I've been stuck for 3 months.

Yes, it's in the standard libs. Although it's quite remote from the start of the list...

Yay. I finally got it. I had looked at earlier but didnt read correctly on how to use it so I forgot about it.

From some reason this level stopped working (probably due to software
upgrade by the hosting provider).

It is now fixed. So if you tried to solving it in the last couple of days,
you should try again.

Is this still working? I'm using the correct module (I think =) I cut and pasted the discovery script from the howto guide linked in the module's front page, and it worked perfectly for the howto url. Changing the url to the pythonchallenge one cause the script to die horribly.

sigh. got it working. It's always the little mistakes that get you.
