Hey now, someone said on this forum that they tried to apologize like that before and didn't get a response. I just apologized in the obvious way and I did get back a response. Apparently things have changed.

I was trying to do it all with python. I eventually tried a more pedestrian method and it worked wonderfully.

At least I learned a bit about XXXX.

L gave you a hint on how to fix the broken file. He gave you the correct sig and a hint on how much is broken.

What hint? I only got a reply message from him .

He gave me a signature. But "it is computationally infeasible ...
to produce any message having a given prespecified target
message digest"

what's the meaning of spoiler? like "several bananas" or
"this module" in previous level?

If the phrase can answer a question begin with "how much". then
is the m_____e rather large? Is exhaustive search possible?

But you don't have to start from scratch! The message points to something broken, tells you by how much it is broken, and how to recognize if you managed to fix it!

The broken file was provided as part of the solution to Level 24.

Doh! Level 25 took me so long that I forgot about that.

I spent a long, long time stuck on the first step...trying to figure out how to apologize to L. I was looking at past puzzles and baking cookies, but I couldn't figure out what that old geezer wanted.

For those who find it equally hard to say they're sorry, revisit puzzle 19 (I had completely forgotten a piece of information that I had learned there), and if you start writing Python code to apologize, just stop. I apologized in English, although I suspect that L doesn't really care what you say, as long as you make an effort.

YMMV, but his response to my apology arrived in a few minutes.
