It's "supposed" to be truncated. If your image editor won't display it, you can try padding it with zeroes. But the other images should give you enough information that you don't need that one.

I don't know enough of image file formats....

Can you tell me how many zeros do I need to put at the end?

Yes it is okay. Firefox can display it nonetheless, it is only truncated.

That shouldn't be much of a problem: I found the solution without using that one. But if you do want to see it, use Firefox or Mozilla: they ignore the error and show the picture.

following the instructions, I downloaded a file

the length was an odd number

I can think of 4 ways to do it (insort, outsort, foward, back):

ABCDE -> ACEBD
ABCDE -> BDACE
ABCDE -> ADBEC
ABCDE -> CADBE

not a jpg in the bunch

Third object: study it carefully, using a hex editor. Hint: gfx = graphic*s*.
Fourth object: ignore
Fifth object: remember what it said, you can use it in one of the following levels.

Hint: gfx = graphic*s*.

I couldn't spot a pattern in the evil dump as text or bytes, so I wondered if the fact that the length divides nicely meant that they were colours. But the output looked like garbage, so not that straightforward...can any spare another clue?

I have absolutely no idea what to do here. I have downloaded the gfx file, but have no idea what to do with it. I'm a python newb, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: I've just seen images 3 and 4, they still don't give me any clue, apart from an url depicting Osama's favourite character

Division is good... and there are colours in there, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you should be dividing by three.
